Florida Dominates in U-Haul’s 2026 Mid-Year Migration Report

Florida remains a top destination state for Boomers, Gen Xers and Millennials alike.

U-Haul has just released their 2026 midyear migration report which tracks the top states and metro areas nationwide which people are migrating to. This midyear report, which spans July 2025 through June 2026, calculates the top states and metro areas which people are migrating to by looking at the net gain of U-Haul trucks entering a given state or metro area, vs leaving it. Additionally, U-Haul further analyzes their 2.5 million truck-sharing transactions that occur each year by age group to help identify trends of where Boomers, Gen Xers and Millennials are migrating to.

Top State Migration State Trends (2026)

Through midyear 2026, Florida ranked as a top destination state for Boomers, Gen Xers and Millennials alike. Specifically, for Millennials (age 30 – 45) and Gen Xers (age 46 - 61), Florida ranked as the #1 state of which they are migrating to.  For Boomers (age 62 – 80), Florida ranked 3rd behind South Carolina and North Carolina.

Top Florida Metro Area Migration Trends (2026)

As Florida is a top migration state in 2026, U-Haul's midyear report also lists the top Florida metro areas which Millennials, Gen Xers and Boomers are moving to. North Port - Sarasota - Bradenton was the highest ranked net gain metro area in Florida which spans both Millennials and Gen Xers.
